Ingredients

  • 4 Ripe Bananas, sliced
  • 1 Box Vanilla wafers
  • 2/3 Cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/4 Cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/4 Tsp Salt
  • 2 Cup whole milk
  • 4 Large Egg Yolks
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 Cup Heavy cream
  • 2 Tsp Powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Prepare the Custard: In a saucepan, combine sugar, flour, and salt. Gradually whisk in the milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • Temper the Eggs: In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks. Gradually add a small amount of the hot milk mixture to the yolks while whisking constantly. This tempers the eggs, preventing them from scrambling. Once tempered, add the egg mixture back into the saucepan and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Allow the custard to cool slightly.
  • Layering: In a serving dish or bowl, layer vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and custard. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of custard on top.
  • Whipped Cream: In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the top layer of custard.
  • Chilling: Cover the pudding with plastic wrap and cool for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
